Though it is small and doesnt look appetitizing, it is one of my favourite snacks, as compared to biscuits or tidbits...It comes in 2 "flavours" - Sweet or Salty and of coz a sweet lady like me would prefer the Sweet one.... wahahaha...
Though this little thing being my likings, i do not patronize any Tom, Dick or Harry hawker stall that sells it... It must be from Maxwell Hawker Centre where both father & daughter run the stall...
They have been there since i was a little girl, before the Hawker was renovated...and i remember there used to be long, long queues, just for this small piece of dough... They used to sell them at 10 for $1 but since the renovation, they have increased the price to 7 @ $1.00.
The old man is already very old, yet when you patronize the stall, you will see him, Back all hunched, eyes hardly opening, putting in his heart and soul kneading the dough, adding the filling (red bean paste) and finally landing them into the wok of hot oil...
His daughter helps him of coz and when the queue gets really long, customers have to fry their own orders and she will only help u differentiate which being sweet and salty (they look all the same to me!!) and also to collect $$Payments$$.
I have had cravings for my "Hum Jin Pang" since Mon (despite the fact that i was unwell) and today, i finally got it after work...Yum Yum...
Bought 21 home and after dinner, my family & I indulged ourselves in the tasty & delicious Xian Jian Bing....
If u happen to pass by Maxwell these days, no harm buying 7 to try and see if u share my likings...
