"Hum Jin Pang" ~In Cantonese~

This is a picture of a "Xian(2) Jian(1) Bing(3)..."

Though it is small and doesnt look appetitizing, it is one of my favourite snacks, as compared to biscuits or tidbits...It comes in 2 "flavours" - Sweet or Salty and of coz a sweet lady like me would prefer the Sweet one.... wahahaha...

Though this little thing being my likings, i do not patronize any Tom, Dick or Harry hawker stall that sells it... It must be from Maxwell Hawker Centre where both father & daughter run the stall...

They have been there since i was a little girl, before the Hawker was renovated...and i remember there used to be long, long queues, just for this small piece of dough... They used to sell them at 10 for $1 but since the renovation, they have increased the price to 7 @ $1.00.

The old man is already very old, yet when you patronize the stall, you will see him, Back all hunched, eyes hardly opening, putting in his heart and soul kneading the dough, adding the filling (red bean paste) and finally landing them into the wok of hot oil...

His daughter helps him of coz and when the queue gets really long, customers have to fry their own orders and she will only help u differentiate which being sweet and salty (they look all the same to me!!) and also to collect $$Payments$$.

I have had cravings for my "Hum Jin Pang" since Mon (despite the fact that i was unwell) and today, i finally got it after work...Yum Yum...

Bought 21 home and after dinner, my family & I indulged ourselves in the tasty & delicious Xian Jian Bing....

If u happen to pass by Maxwell these days, no harm buying 7 to try and see if u share my likings...

Duty Manager

One of the duties for my new position is Duty Manager... This is a rotating shift of every 6 weeks for all executives and above in all the different depts within the mall... Our job???

We are to ensure that everything & everyone in the mall is doing well, enjoying the best..esp during weekends where the crowd is the most.

Just as I thought this is quite a simple task (as Shopping Malls are usually peaceful - Shoppers dont really create trouble), i received an email with regards to a complaint that happened on 20 Aug 07...

Im sure it was a terrible experience for the customer and i think the management of the food court should really take this seriously. I thought it would be good if the customer had taken a photo of the plaster as evidence.

I followed up with the next few days papers to see the reply from the various sectors affected... Both NEA & Banquet Holdings Pte Ltd dropped their comments on 28 Aug & 25 Aug respectively. Agree with some readers that the reply from the Food Court was quite disappointing... :(

From Banquet:

Plaster in coleslaw: Source a mystery

I REFER to Ms Julizza Jumahat's letter, 'Horror find in chewy coleslaw' (ST, Aug 23).
When our duty manager went to investigate the incident, the items had already been returned to the stall and disposed of by the stallholder.
The manager checked the staff at the stall for visible injuries but there were none. We are therefore puzzled as to the source of the plaster.
The stallholder was instructed to dispose of all the coleslaw and to conduct a thorough clean-up immediately.
In addition, the stallowner was warned to ensure the highest standard of hygiene at his stall.
We apologise to Ms Julizza for her unpleasant experience at our food court.
We want to assure her that hygiene is of paramount importance to us. All our stalls are required to obtain an 'A' grading from the National Environment Agency.
Our managers conduct stringent checks on our stalls daily and any stall that failed to meet our requirements would be taken to task.
Our e-mail, customer
care@banquet.com.sg, is being upgraded. We look forward to receiving feedback from our customers in order to improve our service.

I begin to wonder how i would handle the situation if i were the DM for the day... *OMG* -_-" ~What a tricky case!!!~

Maybe i would close the stall for a couple of days to allow customers to regain some confidence in the stall, the food court & the mall which will actually benefit everyone in the long term... ~BUT is this too strict??~Am i over-reacting to the situation??~In the first place, are we given the authority to rule over the vendors??

I really dunno... hmmm, maybe all this will come with experience... Glad that i will only start my DM position after my probation which is 3 months later... Phew...!!! Wish me luck then!!!

5th Year Anniversary

27.08.07 ~ Took half day MC due to my bad nose & throat.... Doctor says virus attack on the way!!! Just taken my medicine and so before the drowsiness takes effect, better blog about my weekends...

This day 25.08.07, Tat & I have come to our 5th year anniversary :)

We are supposed to have a JUST THE 2 OF US Celebration on that day but due to his Major Project & Exams this week, we decided to postpone the celebration.

Though the gift exchange will all take place next week but he has already dedicated his 100th blog entry to me... ~so touched~ :)

We met up in the afternoon after my pre-employment check up and i left him alone to continue his work while i met up with Peggy, Clarence & his 2 Grannys for shopping towards the evening.

Finally managed to get my fairy necklace... something that i have been searching high & low for... though not gold and i really like the figure :)

Also bought a ring from M'phosis...Finally got a Black beads ring at only @ $6.30... Some places are selling at higher prices with workmanship not as good as this...(Beads are loose...i prefer the very tight ones)

Then i also saw many Disney cartoon stickers & magnets... *So Cute* Bought all of them till my mum also cant stand... heehee... im going to paste them on cards that im going to learn make myself...

No celebrations with Wei Tat on 25.08.07 but i had a fulfilling day and im looking forward to Friday's Midnight Shopping (31.08.07) with him and our Dinner on Sat(01.09.07) .... Yippie!!!

TaT's Mummy's birthday

Today i bought a cake over to TaT's place to celebrate his mum's birthday... Bought "Mango Mirror" from Prima Deli... Quite a yummy cake though i usually dont take cakes unless they are of cholocate flavour!!!

Was quite sure she was touched though she din show it and told us that we shouldnt have bought the cake... heee....

In appreciation of the cake (i think), she gave me a coin.... A Singapore currency 1-dollar coin that was used probably 20 years or more ago. Really antique to me coz i have never seen it and even those that my brother collects are not as old as this one.

Think it worths a lot now esp to the collectors...thats why i dont intend to post the pic online...what if people decide to rob me for a 1-dollar coin... wahahahaha...

Anyway, Thanks auntie...i will treat it like an antique!!!

Hmmm, after the 19th, then 24th (TaT's daddy's birthday), it will be 25th August... TaT & I will celebrate our 5 years Anniversary!! Yeah...looking forward to the day!!!

Image Workshop...Warm or Cool

Attended an Image Workshop yesterday and thought it would be nice to share something i learnt...(i paid $48.00 for the whole course ok...and now u are getting this FOC!!)
Anyway, what im going to share is abt C-O-L-O-U-R-S!! The colours to match for our clothes, shoes and accessories when we go to work...

Colours are classified into 2 categories, Warm or Cool...
Warm:
BEIGE <----------------------------->BROWN
*you can choose to match with Gold accessories*

Cool:
WHITE<------------------------------->BLACK
*you can choose to match with Silver accessories*

In our daily attire to work, we should always wear either warm or cool....never a mix!!! In order words, you shouldnt be seen wearing a black top with a brown skirt.... Of course in this theory there are some exceptions (eg. white and denim blue is universal, thus it can mix with either or) and if u are interested, u should be able to find out more on the web... hee!

Fortunately for the 4 of us who attended the course, we wore the correct combination and escape the embarassing moment...

In additon to the workshop, we also signed up for a spa offer... 1 for 1 and we can even get to use the spa wet facilities for free (usu price at $48.00)!!!

So excited and we probably be going in early Sept!!!! Yippie!!

Also on the same day in the evening, TaT accompanied me to attend one of my colleague's wedding at Geylang Seria ~so happy that he went as he was sick on Fri~...Quite a grand one i would say, for a Muslim as compared to the others that i have attended before... the food served (buffet style) was also good but we did not eat much as TaT was still unwell.

However, i was quite disappointed with the attendence from the company...Seems that many did not attend and i know of some who did not inform her at all.... Some did not inform and did not give Ang Pow even... quite a sad thing right??

I think she must have wasted so much on the food... i heard the price per pax is not cheap..

Luckily, some of us brought along our boyfriends and some with their children...

I think its basic courtesy to at least inform the host in advance abt your attendance...it gives people enough time to make arrangments (Food can be cut down and the allocated tables wont be so empty) .... Im sure u wouldnt want people to do the same to u during your wedding right???

Whatever it is, i wish the couple a BLISSFUL MARRIAGE and may they lived happily ever after. ~I enjoyed my day too... ~

At HK Cafe after the dinner with Lily & Peggy...

P.S: Would like to take this opportunity to apologise to those who met TAT... coz i did not do any formal introduction... hehe... too shy to do so!! .. Anyway, not too late to do it now...His name is Wei Tat and U will see more of him very soon as he will be joining DBS on 03.09.07...

Suspense revealed

I AM CHANGING JOB!!! ~See my happy expression!!!~

I have tendered my resignation on 16.08.07 and will officially start work at my new place on 17.09.07.

So is TaT... He will be joining DBS wef 03.09.07.. *Im leaving and he's joining...hee..but this was not planned*

We are both leaving for the better...for higher pay, for better prospects!!

Very excited abt the new role as it's really something new to me...BRAND NEW in fact!! Lazy... Happy.... Suspense

Oh no...i think im becoming lazier... no really actively updating my blog..Just like Tat!!!

Or is it because Im busier these days...well, perhaps... and if thats the case then things shall get better as my stuff are more or less settled down.. :)

2 very happy & exciting events happening... its for Me & Tat..

I would say its something like Dreams come true! But i still have to keep the issue in suspense. Let's say "to be continued..."

Perhaps give all of u an update of what i did for these weeks...

I have watched 3 movies for the past weeks -

  1. Flashpoint (Free ticket from colleague) ; Action movie ; Quite an exciting show with a little too much violent... ~Im a peaceful person~
  2. Rush Hour 3 ; Super funny...really worth to watch!!!
  3. 881 ; Hokkien movie ; Funny & interesting dialogues but the plot...ermm, too exaggerate i feel and the story flow is not too smooth... *Techno Cat* hahaha (extracted from movie)

Also celebrated Jason's birthday yesterday with Nick, Jenny, Peggy & Tat... Went to eat Curry Fish Head...Yummy Yummy!!!

Our chit chat content was really funny... From Marriage, Insurance, Army and even condoms... I cant believe it that we actually discussed all these openly... Hahahaha...But was educational and more importanly, Interesting!!

For this Sat, i will be attending a course on Poise, colours, etiquette, image... Self improvement!!! Then im considering to attend a colleague's wedding due to the timing... Might be a little rush but let's see how it goes...

Oh...before i forget, also have a dinner this Friday @ Sim Lim Square... for seventh month...

Quite a number of events...but i will not forget to make time for someone...hehehe!!

Dont forget this blog will be continued...

Thursday 9 August 2007

Im Back.... (bi-weekly update)

Disappeared for 2 weeks, im finally back to my blog... Back to pen my thoughts again.

Mentally busy lately... too many things on my mind since first day of Aug...

Hmmm, so what have i been doing since i return from Genting...

Let's see.....

01 Aug 07 (Wed)

On this day, i have officially joined the bank for 4 years!!! 4 years of of youth spent here...so what have i learnt and how far has this job brought me??

Also on the same day, i received a letter... A letter that i had been waiting since June. The letter was supposed to bring Joy to me BUT I was disappointed instead. Even the personnels who passed me the letter (they knew the content before hand) shared the same feelings..

No worries, i did not fail anything nor got rejected in anything.... it was something good but just felt its far from good enough... Haiz :(

04 Aug 07 (Sat)

Visited Pichon French Restaurant & Bar again. This time, we requested to be seated by the river...

Glad that the group enjoyed the ambience and food there... They seem to enjoy the escargots!!! ~Hah... good thing...else TaT & I will feel gulity.~

On the left: Escargot served with red wine and a pastry (Forgot the exact name of the dish)
On the right: Escargot with Garlic Butter (Preferred!!!)

After dinner, we went to the Cannery @ Clarke Quay for chill out. We settled down @ Mama's Carribean Bar. Quite a quiet place there, though there is live band (but couldnt sing Carribean songs -_-' )

Nice place if u just want to chit chat and enjoy some beer...

Apart from these 2 days, the rest of the days were spent on MASSIVE Shopping & reflecting...

Visited JOOP (Vivocity), TOPSHOP (Marina Square), HYPNOSIS (Citylink), a shop at OUB Centre (Dunno the name) and bought many pieces there... Dresses, blouse, Jumper, jacket....etc The next on the list are some new pants for me.. TaT also needs some new clothes for his NEW JOB!!! Oh yes, forgot to mention, TaT has found a new job... Better prospect, better pay, more recognition!!! Cant reveal much right now but soon....

Back to my spree..... *OMG*imagine how much i spent!!!!!

No choice, i see all these as investment since now, i need to meet more people, its only logical that i get more classy, stylish and formal wear...

I also spent my time (my nitez) rushing to finish the HK Drama, "La Femme Desperado".

Nice show because it teaches many things about women!!!

U may think i should be physically drained instead of mentally but trust me, as i carry out all the above physically, my brain is working extra harder... Some thoughts are better left unwritten...

Till i log in again, enjoy your National Day and live your life to the fullest!!!

Happy Birthday Singapore..........Cheers!!
